In conjunction with National Woman's History Month, ladies of the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club were special guests on March 30, 2017 at an appreciation luncheon hosted by the Gulf Correctional Institute in Wewahitchka, Florida. A great meal was enjoyed, and guest speaker, Ms. Michelle Jordan, Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II, Office of Statewide Intelligence/Organized Crime Unit, presented an informative program highlighting the important roles of women in Corrections.

The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Warden James Blackwood of the Gulf Correctional Institute and all of their staff for hosting this luncheon in honor of Woman's History Month. The Woman's Club owes a debt of gratitude to the Gulf Correctional Institute's dedication and willingness to partner with our club in many events that benefit the community.

A look back into the history of the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club reveals a group of very strong women who, in the 1930's, in the face of great national economic crisis, banded together to quietly form a civic organization dedicated to improving the community and lives of the people in Wewahitchka, Florida. From that point to now, the ladies in the Woman's Club continue to be involved in many civic projects throughout the year, with a constant desire to aid those in need, and improve our community.
