The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club held their annual COATS FOR KIDS for children in Gulf County, along with assistance from The Gulf Correctional Institution in Wewahitchka, and the Port St. Joe Elementary School Counselor and volunteers.
This year, more than a hundred jackets, blankets, gloves and warm hats were provided to elementary age students in two schools, the Wewahitchka Elementary School, and the Port St. Joe Elementary School. This is a county wide project, and the Woman's Club sends a great big thank you to the employees of the Gulf Correctional Institute, and the Counselor and volunteers from Port St. Joe Elementary School for supporting our COATS FOR KIDS project. Each child had one-on-one individual assistance from a Womans Club member, a Gulf CI representative, or school volunteer to do their "shopping" through all the items to find just the right size and color.
Throughout the year, the GFWC Wewahitchka Woman's Club collects new and gently used coats and warm items for this project. If you would like to contribute, please contact any club member. This needed effort is not possible without community involvement, and we thank everyone who continues to support this much needed project.
